報告題目2:Microfoundations of Competitive Actions in Digitized Business Environments: A Configurational Approach

報告時間:2019年7月3日, 12:15-13:30

報告地點:學院路校區新主樓A618

內容提要:

The fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) is an emerging research approach, which is based on configurational theories. Contrasting to the regression approach that investigates the net effect of each individual variable, fsQCA examines configurations of multiple variables as causal recipes of a desired outcome. In this research talk, this emerging research approach will be introduced, and also a recent study that applies fsQCA to a complex organizational problem of generating comparative actions in today’s digitized business environment will be discussed. In this study, the configurational approach is used to not only validate but also extend exiting theories through a retroductive research process. In particular, the study further develops the awareness-motivation-capability (AMC) framework considering the role of digital infrastructure in today’s business. To empirically handle the causal complexity due to the interdependencies among the multiple elements within a firm, this study applies fsQCA to field survey data on 300 Chinese firms and investigate how all elements simultaneously combine into multiple configurations to produce more competitive actions.

主講人:Associate Professor One-Ki Daniel Lee, College of Management University of Massachusetts Boston

主講人簡介:

One-Ki Daniel Lee is an Associate Professor in the Management Science and Information Systems Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He received his Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong and his Master degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), South Korea. His research interests include organizational IT strategy and value, IT-enabled dynamic capabilities (e.g., agility and KM capability), global IT project risk management, and mobile platform & digital transformation. His research methods involve several advanced techniques in structural equation modeling (SEM), qualitative comparative analysis (QCA), and text mining. His research work has appeared in leading IS journals, including Information Systems Research, Information & Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Communications of the ACM, Communication of the AIS, and others.
